Can you feel it? The hint of warmth in the April air? I have been excited for April since January! And even though it snowed this past week, warm weather is on the horizon and we have had glimpses of it here and there in between snowfalls.
The first flower that I am eagerly watching this April are my tulips which have just broken through the soil. I eagerly await their beautiful blooms and hope they grown as tall and beautiful as I imagine.
In my little greenhouse, I have started some sweet peas, calendula, cosmos, snapdragons, foxglove, and some tomatoes and herbs. I have begun the process of getting the sweet peas acclimated to the outdoors this week and hope they will be strong enough to transplant in a few more days. I have likely killed my snapdragons and foxglove plants. And while I am considering restarting my snapdragons. I think I will fall sow my foxgloves and see if I have better results.
A piece of advice I as given early on, was to expect to kill some plants and don't feel bad about that. Whether it is your first time growing from seed or your 50th, sometimes things just go wrong and that is ok.
Now is the perfect time to plan that garden, whether flower or vegetable! Don't be disappointed in the failure, for there will be some, but enjoy the process. I can't wait to hear all you decide to grow!
